NF7-S Onboard NIC Tweak (written by Digital from winoscentral.com)  - What prompted me to dig around for this little trick/setting was the difference in LAN/Internet speed I noticed between my “everyday” Windows XP box and my less powerful “screw around and reformat” Windows 2003 Server box. The Server box just seems to render pages faster under IE and Firebird where as my XP system seems to pause a bit and then render the page. Now don’t get me wrong, my XP box is plenty fast but I wanted the same speed I was seeing on my server box on my XP box so, I started digging around to see what I could do.

To cut a long story short, I tried my “super-duper speed up internet tweaks” and that helped a bit but what really did it was a setting on the NIC itself. Those who are running an nVidia NFORCE NIC should check this out and see what it does for you.

- Right click “My Computer” and choose Manage
- Select Device Manager
- Hit the (+) sign next to Network Adapters
- Right click over NVIDIA nForce MCP Controller and choose Properties
- Under the Advanced Tab choose Optimize For, and to the Right hit the down arrow and choose Throughput.
- Reboot and see if you also notice a nice speed increase in your connection speed.
